TRUTEST-C – True Triaxial Rock Testing System with confining pressure control

The TRUTEST-C is an advanced true triaxial system for mechanical characterization of large cubic rock specimens under realistic reservoir conditions. It independently controls the three principal stresses σx, σy and σz, reproducing complex 3D in-situ stress states. Four servo-controlled hydraulic actuators apply stresses along the X and Y axes, while confining pressure generates stress along the Z axis. The system accommodates 100 × 100 × 100 mm specimens and operates at stresses and pore pressures up to 70 MPa. High-resolution LVDTs measure deformation in the three principal directions, while three precision syringe pumps provide independent stress control. Optional heating enables testing up to 150°C. Optional P and S-wave measurements characterize elastic properties, anisotropy and rock damage, while Acoustic Emission monitoring detects and localizes fracture development. The system also supports hydraulic fracturing and wellbore stability studies, providing a complete platform for advanced geomechanical research.
